It is common for people to feel a bit nervous on their first visit, particularly if they have never attended therapy before. The approach that we will take will be holistic. I will be interested in your strengths and passions. Your patterns of health and imbalance. Your goals and dreams. Your relationship with yourself and others. Your obstacles and your supports. Your thoughts, feelings, body sensations and expressions are all relevant to us finding a way to create wellbeing.

You can expect a gentle beginning. Change takes time and it takes kindness. A cup of tea and a bit of chat about why you have come to see me will start us off. I will explain everything as we go along - there are no expectations for good art here! Nor do you have to be a yoga fanatic! We always start with the basics. It might be that we do a quick sketch or learn a simple breathing exercise to help us get to know each other and start the process.

Some people find they like the Art Therapy better and others find the simple Yoga methods more accessible. You don’t even need to know which you prefer, we can work it out together.
